Exploring Next‑Gen Apps & Games for Education

Video games for teaching and learning present a tremendous opportunity to increase student engagement, and to capture the attention of students who might otherwise struggle to stay focused. The challenge is to identify what makes games fun and incorporate those elements into learning materials.

NYU IT’s Teaching and Learning with Technology (TLT) department has been exploring this challenge—not just in theory, but through a series of projects that grew out of faculty requests to leverage gamification in their teaching.
